A Royal Wedding

Ok so about 8 months ago I shot Sonali and Prayes’s engagement ceremony in Frisco, TX and Sonali said we gotta have you shoot our wedding.  I asked her are you guys having a big wedding and she said and I am paraphrasing here ‘yeah I think it’s gonna be a really cool one’.

Well little did I know that sonali was the queen of understating things..  This is how the wedding played out and yeah this is all true cause I got photos.

GARBA

The event kicked off with a garba ceremony in Frisco, TX here are the traditional Dandiya sticks that are used for dancing.  Sonali and Prayes gave a set of sticks to each guest as favors.

And they danced the night away…

This is the application of the Mehndi (Henna tatoos to the bride)…

The Wedding

Prayes’s arrival was a highlight of the day when he flew in a chopper to the ceremony site and then rode an elephant to the ceremony hall with everyone dancing along the way.  It was quite awesome for us to photograph and experience.

Prayes arriving via chopper with his parents waving to the groom to be.

Yep ladies and gents, he’s on an elephant, like a live one with a huge trunk that kept throwing my buddy Chris Watson who was also the videographer around.

Prayes not only has the girls under his power but elephants also do as he says…  Must be a girl elephant….. ;-)

And I think he was really happy to marry Sonali cause the minute he got down from the elephant he started dancing and wanted to run to Sonali but they kinda held him back.

Then everyone started dancing and it kinda got me in the mood to dance and really my assistants were no where to be found so sorry no pics of me dancing.

The traditional circling the holy fire (agni phera) symbolizes the 7 promises the bride makes to her husband.

The wedding photos will go online January 30th 2007 so keep your eyes peeled ladies and gents cause there are sure to be some killer images.
